FOR PEACE AND PROSPERITY OF THE ASIA-PACIFIC

Foundress of ALFS
Mutsuko Miki

The Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (initially named the Asian Ladies Friendship Society) was established in 1968 with a firm belief that Japan needed to join hands with its neighboring countries to bring peace and prosperity within the Asia-Pacific region.

Through understanding and cooperation of our member countries, the organization has been able to make substantial progress year by year. I am particularly pleased that the proceeds raised at our “Asia-Pacific Festival & Charity Bazaar” (usually held in April each year with the gracious presence of Their Imperial Highnesses) have benefited many welfare programs and assisted in the recovery of natural disasters within our member countries.

These accomplishments are brought to fruition by our supporters and the attendees at the bazaar. I hope we will be able to expand our circle of friendship for further peace and prosperity around the globe.

SLOWLY BUT STEADILY

President
Haruko Komura

The Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (initially named the Asian Ladies Friendship Society) which was founded by Mrs. Mutsuko Miki has now grown to embrace 26 countries, not only from Asia but also from the Pacific region. I strongly believe that Japan located in Asia must work hand-in-hand with the Asia-Pacific nations in order to achieve a peaceful and prosperous future. And with this goal in mind, I succeeded Mrs. Miki in 2004 as the President of this Society.

We try to promote mutual friendship among member countries through goodwill and charitable activities, and, while deepening the understanding of other countries’ situations, do our best to provide necessary assistance towards betterment of education and welfare of women and children who are longing for our helping hands.

Each year women Ambassadors and spouses of Ambassadors of the member countries lead the role in preparing the “Asia-Pacific Festival & Charity Bazaar”, which has now become a very much awaited annual event in Tokyo.

We will continue to uphold our commitment with a tireless endeavor to deepen our mutual trust in order to work together for the peace and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region. We look forward to receiving your continued generous support which is so very important to us.
